How it works

How does KAIZEA calculate the Load Index?

KAIZEA combines attendance and session-RPE — perceived exertion (1–10) × session duration in minutes — automatically into a Load Index per player, optionally enriched with wearable data. It's grounded in the Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio (ACWR): the ratio of the load of the last 0 days (acute) to the average of the last 0 days (chronic). Input takes only 0 seconds per player, per session.

  • Sweet spot 0.8–1.3: lowest injury risk — above it, risk climbs significantly (Gabbett, British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2016)
  • A weekly load increase under 10% measurably lowers injury risk (Gabbett, 2016)

Young players recover differently and tolerate different load profiles than adults. KAIZEA therefore calculates with youth-adjusted time constants. Training load management is the systematic planning and monitoring of an athlete's training load (intensity × volume). The goal is to keep athletes in the optimal zone between underload and overload — maximising performance gains while minimising injury risk.

Do I need GPS trackers for training load monitoring?

No. KAIZEA uses RPE (Rating of Perceived Exertion) — a scientifically validated self-assessment method. Players rate their perceived effort after each session on a scale. This is just as predictive as GPS data, but requires no hardware.
